COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) announced today its 62-member medical staff that will support the 600-plus U.S. athletes at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. Headed by USOC Chief Medical Officer William Kuprevich, DO, (Bloomsburg, Ill.) the U.S. medical staff consists of some of the United States’ premiere physicians, Certified Athletic Trainers, chiropractors and massage therapists.

“Athletes devote a significant portion of their lives training in pursuit of their Olympic dream,” said USOC 2008 Olympic Games Medical Director Margaret Hunt. “This staff of medical professionals is honored to play a small role in supporting those dreams.”

Primarily responsible for the overall health of the athletes, the U.S. medical staff will be in place at the Olympic Games to administer aid during competition, practice and in the Athlete Village. Members of the staff will also be located at the USOC High Performance Training Center (HPTC) at Beijing Normal University and at the USOC Headquarters at the Beijing Hilton.

A team from the USOC Performance Services Department selected the 2008 Olympic Games U.S. medical staff from a group of qualified medical professionals that has worked a variety of national and international events for the USOC and has performed a residence at one of the U.S. Olympic Training Centers.
